The Paragon-X supports the execution of G.8261 PDV impairment patterns at T1 and E1 rates only.

However, there is a method by which these lower rate PDV patterns can be applied at higher transmission rates like T3/DS3. This involves using the Multi Flow delay impairment mode within the Add Delay/Impairments function.

Instructions

Having selected CES operating mode and used the Select Flow/Flow Wizard method to identify the stream of interest:

  1. Select Add Delay/Impairments

  2. Tick the Enable button and choose the Delay tab

  3. In the Type selection, choose Multi-Flow

  4. In the Variable Delay Insertion section , tick the Enable button

  5. Select the User Defined choice and press Import to load the appropriate pattern file

e.g. g8261_tc3a_1000pps_20100203.cpd

The delay impairment can now be started using the Start Impairments button

This feature allows a profile to be replayed onto multiple flows. Each point from the profile is applied to a period of time e.g. for a profile for a 1000 packets per second flow, each point is applied to a 1msec interval. There is therefore no limit to the number of flows and/or packets that can be impacted during each period. The feature can be used to apply a profile to multiple flows in parallel.
