Calnex SNE: How are maps stored in the Web UI firmware?

The way that SNE maps are stored has changed, as from version 11.x (the Web UI).

Previously (in versions up to and including 7.0) maps were stored on the PC running the GUI client software, and it was possible to access maps even when the GUI was not actually connected to the SNE.

Now (from version 11.x, the Web UI) maps are stored on the SNE itself. When you point your web browser at the IP address of the SNE, the web client connects to the SNE and a synchronisation process takes place which allows you to view and edit those maps that you are an “owner” on. No “offline” editing of maps is possible - your web browser needs to be connected to the SNE in order to create or make changes to maps.

The format of the map files themselves has also changed in the Web UI. Previously (in versions up to and including 7.0) maps were held as XML files. From version 11.x onwards, maps are held as JSON files. Both are relatively easy to understand, and if you have ever looked at an XML map file then you will find the JSON map files are not too dissimilar. Note that we don’t recommend making any changes to the JSON itself, as we reserve the right to change the format of it between releases without notice. Use web browser-based user interface instead, which is designed to be as easy to use as possible.
