Paragon-neo: What types of Forward Error Correction (FEC) are supported?
Forward Error Correction is supported on the Paragon-neo interfaces as described in the table below:
Rate / Modulation | FEC Type | Reference |
---|---|---|
25G BASE-R / NRZ | RS-FEC (528, 514) | IEEE 802.3by Clause 108 |
50G BASE-R / NRZ | RS-FEC (528, 514) | Ethernet Consortium Schedule 3. RS-FEC (Clause 91 sublayer) |
100G BASE-R / NRZ | RS-FEC (528, 514) | IEEE 802.3bj Clause 91 |
50G BASE-R / PAM4 | RS-FEC (544,514) KP | IEEE 802.3cd clause 134 |
200G BASE-R / PAM4 | RS-FEC (544,514) KP | IEEE 802.3bs clause 119 |
400G BASE-R / PAM4 | RS-FEC (544,514) KP | IEEE 802.3bs clause 119 |
As FEC is mandatory for PAM4 interfaces, when a PAM4 interface is selected FEC is set to on in the Paragon-neo GUI, and cannot be disabled.
