Sentinel: why can't I see ESMC messages?

Because of its internal architecture, Sentinel requires PTP to be enabled on the channel on which the ESMC messages are expected.

The config shown below will NOT capture any ESMC messages:

unless the PTP Slave function is also enabled on channel 2:

The main screen widget should then show the received QL value

Confirmation that the messages are being received can also be seen on the Health Check - Packet Capture screen by selecting All Ethernet and setting a Capture No. of Packets to a value e.g. 5. ESMC packets will have an ethertype of 8809:
