Paragon-neo-S: Software Releases

The release below applies to Paragon-neo-S instruments only. For Paragon-neo NRZ and PAM4 releases please see this page.

If you have a valid Calnex Support Service (CSS) contract or your instrument was shipped to you less than a year ago, you are eligible to access the latest Paragon-neo-S software, which can be downloaded from the Calnex Support Portal. Release notes are also available from the same location. If you do not yet have a login to the Calnex Support Portal, please contact support@calnexsol.com.

Information on how to install a new software release is available in this article.

Please use the MD5 checksum to confirm correct tar file download. The tar file checksum is given in a text file and can be compared to the MD5 checksum that you calculate locally. Local checksum can be calculated on Windows with command: certutil -hashfile <tar_filename> MD5

 

80.12.71.08 (Paragon-neo-S Release 2.1) November-2025

This release includes CAT v33.60 and PFV v33.60.

This is an update to the second software release for Paragon-neo-S:

  • New Ethernet interface – PAM4 100GbE SFP112 ports.

  • Qualified Source photonics SP-CE-FR-CA (SFP112 100GBASE-FR1) transceivers.

  • Deprecated 64k reference clocks.

Detailed release notes are provided as part of the installation.

Verify that your Paragon-neo-S is running Release 2.0 software before updating to Release 2.1.

==> If Release 2.0 is running, users can self install Release 2.1.

==> Contact your local Calnex team if Release 2.0 is not running on your Paragon-neo-s.

This release includes CAT v33.50 and PFV v33.50.

Features

This is the second software release for Paragon-neo-S. These new features are in addition to the functionality in Release 1 (with appropriate options installed):

  • Ethernet interfaces – PAM4 400GbE QSFP112 ports.

  • Qualified two QSFP112 400GBASE-VR4 and 400GBASE-LR4 transceivers for use with Paragon-neo-S.

  • Background Traffic generation up to 400G on the QSFP112 400G ports.

  • New Conformance Test Apps for G.8273.3 T-TC and G.8273.4 PTS/APTS

  • Automatic application of relevant metrics and thresholds for Conformance Tests.

  • Added a function to allow users to upload latency compensation numbers for user qualified transceivers.

Paragon-neo-S Release 2 software must be installed by a Calnex engineer. Please contact your local Calnex team to arrange a software update to your Paragon-neo-S from Release 1 to Release 2.

This release includes CAT v32.10 and PFV v32.10

Features

This is the initial software release for Paragon-neo-S with these features (with appropriate options installed):

  • Ethernet interfaces – PAM4 800GbE QSFP112-DD and OSFP ports.

  • ESMC message generation and measurement to ITU-T G.8264.

  • SyncE wander tolerance, transfer and generation testing to ITU-T G.8262.1 and G.8262.

  • 2.048 and 10MHz reference input and output.

  • 1PPS/ToD reference input and output.

  • 1PPS/ToD generation and measurement.

  • PTP timeTransmitter/timeReceiver emulation, impairments, and time error measurements to ITU-T G.826x and G.827x standards, including Class-C and other Enhanced Timing devices.

  • Measurement of 2.048 MHz and 10MHz frequencies.

  • PTP and Time of Day message decode and analysis.
