Paragon-neo-S: Which optics/transceivers can I use?

Specific optical transceivers must be used with Paragon-neo-S PAM4 interfaces. These modules have been tested by Calnex to ensure they fulfil the requirements for functionality and performance needed to enable correct operation and guarantee the integrity of the timing measurements. PAM4 modules with 56G electrical lanes are not supported on Paragon-neo-S. Please refer to the Paragon-neo instead.

PAM4 100G modules with 112G electrical lanes MUST be used with the Paragon-neo-S PAM4 SFP112 100G interfaces.

PAM4 400G modules with 112G electrical lanes MUST be used with the Paragon-neo-S PAM4 QSFP112 400G interfaces.

PAM4 200G is supported using PAM4 400G modules operating in 200G mode.

PAM4 800G modules with 112G electrical lanes MUST be used with the Paragon-neo-S PAM4 800G QSFP112-DD and OSFP interfaces.

Paragon-neo-S 1G, 10G and 25G NRZ ports are supported when running R3 (80.13.70.xx) software.

Earlier releases of software do not support NRZ interfaces.

Do not plug transceivers into the NRZ interfaces on a Paragon-neo-S instrument unless it is running at least R3 software.

Passive DAC cable assemblies may only be connected to Paragon-neo-S NRZ ports.

Paragon-neo-S PAM4 ports are not designed for use with DAC, ACC, AEC or AOC cables which means that such links are unlikely to work and there is a possibility of damaging your instrument. Such damage is not be covered under CSS.

To achieve optimal timing performance when testing using PAM4 optical interfaces, the specific optical modules as listed below MUST be used:
