Paragon-neo: Packets Status LEDs
Paragon-neo provides ‘Status’ LED indicators for ‘Port 1 Packets’ and ‘Port 2 Packets’ on the right hand side of the GUI (Figure 1).
These indicate whether the instrument as detected Frame Check Sequence (FCS) errors with received packets at Paragon-neo Port 1 and Port 2.
If the FCS field of a packet matches the MACs calculated FCS, the packet is considered error-free. However, if an FCS mismatch is identified the packet is considered to have an error - likely through packet corruption. An internal counter for each port is kept and incremented for both error-free and errored packets.
These counters are monitored approximately once per second to give feedback in the GUI. If the counter for errored packets increments between checks, the ‘Port 1/2 Packet’ LED illuminates in red (Figure 2). Otherwise, if the error-free counter has incremented (with no errored increment), the corresponding port LED illuminates green (Figure 3).

If a port identifies an errored packet, and subsequent checks are error free, the LED will change from red to orange to show that errored packets have been seen historically (Figure 4).
If a port receives no packets, and therefore neither counter increments between checks, the LED illuminates white (Figure 5).
The LEDs for ports 1 and 2 illuminate independently based on their respective received packets.
