Paragon-neo: Background Traffic Payloads

The Background Traffic app in the Paragon-neo offers two payload options under the Packet Payload dropdown - either Sequential Byte Sequence or Pseudo Random Binary Sequence (PRBS). Sequential Byte Sequence allows for easy identification of packet corruption, whereas PRBS provides more realistic network conditions.

Sequential Byte Sequence

This payload option simply fills the payload space by iterating through byte values from 0x00 to 0xFF. This is useful for identifying packet corruption as errors in the sequence are easy to spot.


Pseudo Random Binary Sequence (PRBS)

This payload option implements the industry standard PRBS7 (x7 + x6 + 1) methodology with a seed of 0x7F to fill the payload space. The pattern produced repeats every 127 bits. Using PRBS7 provides a deterministic way to create more realistic payloads which more closely replicate real network traffic.
