Calnex SNE: Network and broadcast addresses not being flagged as invalid when used in gateway field for management port IP config

Hardware affected:

  • Standard SNE with any port configuration

Software affected:

  • v14.2.2 and below

There is a known issue which, when configuring SNE’s management port with an IP config that uses the network address or broadcast address in the gateway field, this is incorrectly flagged as valid and can cause that interface to become inaccessible and the unit to enter a boot loop.

Units suffering from this issue can currently only be recovered by Calnex personnel so it is highly recommended that this configuration is completely avoided.

Only valid host addresses for the specified subnet should be entered into the gateway field.

E.g., if SNE IP address = 192.168.1.100 and subnet mask = 255.255.255.0, valid hosts are 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.254.
