Paragon-X: IPv6 Address Format

How should I enter IPv6 addresses in the Paragon-X GUI?

When specifying the Master Source and the Slave Source IP Addresses in the Paragon-X MSE configuration window, the complete 16-byte address must be entered.

The default IPv6 address for the Master is 2000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:000a and for the Slave 2000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:000b. The complete 16-byte address must be entered; compressed address formats such as 2000::000a are not accepted. The screenshot below shows a complete address entry in the Source IP address field:

In PTP Unicast mode, the connected Master and Connected Slave IPv6 addresses are shown either in full or compressed format. The screenshot above shows the detected addresses in compact format. Note that a complete 16 byte address may be too long to fit in the display area; if this occurs unticking the Rates check-box will allow you to see the whole address string.

In PTP Multicast mode, the connected Master and Connected Slave IPv6 addresses have only the six least significant bytes of the address displayed, as shown in the screenshot below. The ten most significant bytes of the IPv6 address are displayed as “-“ and are not taken into the multicast address comparison.
