Sentinel: 100M Optical Interface Offset (Resolved)

Sentinel: 100M Optical Interface Offset (Resolved)

This issue is resolved by software release R16.0.2 - see Sentinel: Releases | R16.0.2 for more details.

This issue affects only PTP 2wayTE measurements on the optical interface at 100M line-rate. Measurements made on the electrical interface and/or at other line-rates are unaffected.

Hardware affected:

  • Sentinels with serial 300XXX or higher with Packet Module(s) installed and enabled

Calnex have identified an issue when using Sentinel to make 2way Time Error measurements on the optical interface of the PTP packet module, specifically at 100M line-rate. This issue causes the measurement to have a positive offset of 530ns.

A fix is being implemented for this issue in an upcoming release but for the meantime, Calnex recommends avoiding making 2way Time Error measurements on the optical interface at 100M and using an alternative line-rate or the electrical interface instead.

Please contact Calnex Support (support@calnex.com) or your regional Calnex representative with any questions or concerns.
